Susan morris

Susan Morris is a Melbourne-based artist whose work explores the beauty and character of botanical forms through oil painting. With a background in Graphic Design, earning her BA from Swinburne University in 1981, Susan’s artistic journey has evolved from product and textile design to fine art, where she continues to express her fascination with nature.

Susan exhibits regularly with the Victorian Artists Society and has been a finalist in prestigious art prizes, including the Waterhouse Natural Science and Art Prize, the Mosman Art Prize, the Lethbridge 20000, the Waverley Art Prize, and the York Botanic Art Prize. Her work has also been recognized in the Linden Postcard Show, where she won Best Still Life in both 2020 and 2021. In 2021, she held a solo exhibition, Plant Portraits, at the Victorian Artists Society.

Inspired by the natural world, Susan’s still-life compositions capture the unique movement and ‘personality’ of plants, celebrating their organic beauty in loose yet expressive arrangements. Working in oils, she finds continual fascination, challenge, and growth in the medium.

Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, including group shows at Brunswick Street Gallery, Pack Gallery Byron Bay, and the Omnia Art Prize, among many others.
